Imam Ali (a.s.) letter to his general Malik al-Ashtar, when Malik al-Ashtar had been appointed as the Governor of Egypt, "… control your passions and check your heart from doing what is not lawful for you because checking the heart means detaining it just half way between what it likes and dislikes. Habituate your heart to mercy for the subjects and to affection and kindness for them. Do not stand over them like greedy beasts who feel it is enough to devour them since they are of two kinds: either your brethren in religion or your likes in creation.” A statement made over 1300 hundred years ago indicating the importance of respecting one another regardless of faith, religion, political belief, gender or other barriers. To accept one another as brothers and sisters in humanity. Our goal is to stand by that high standard to promote unity, assistance, and love to the entire community.
